Desert Nudes

Fri Jun 26, 2009, 4:24 PM
=dwingephotography is throwing a shindig tonight celebrating the publication of his book, Desert Nudes.
I've had the pleasure of shooting with him three times over the last year and a half, and believe me, it is an absolute pleasure. I can't think of anyone I'd rather go scampering around the desert with. He's brought wonderful images to my portfolio, wonderful adventures to my ever-growing collection of memories and stories, and a wonderful friend to my life. I'm so proud to be part of his book and his work.

Congratulations, my friend. Thank you for showing me both the desert and myself through your eyes.

I remember those lovely pics from when you posted them up here. All wonderful shots from a wonderful model and photographer. Bravo to you both!

Its always nice to hear from a model enthusiastic about the work rather than merely being after another paycheck. Congratulations to both of you on the wonderful work. I hope David's "shindig" gets the attendance it deserves and that you two have many more great shoots and adventures ahead of you.

I didn't start modeling with the expectation of being paid for it; for me, it's a beloved hobby, rather than a career path. I hardly ever get paid work, let alone of the caliber I'd call art or post here. As it stands, I've only been paid for three shoots in the last three and a half months, and have only posted images from two of them on DA.

Thank you. I hope so, too.

Some remarkable work here. You lok fantastic, and I hope that this project will enjoy the success it deserves and bring you some personal satisfaction and the realisation that you are, in fact, beautiful.

I know this won't help you pay rent or anything Meggy, but your attitude is precisely the one I want to work with and I don't mean because I think I might not have to pay you! Its not a model thing either. I've been on both sides of it as a musician and a photographer and actually, even as a pastor before. Something changes when you do that which you are passionate about for money. I don't think its inevitable because I have worked with some wonderfully artistic and sincere professionals but what is inevitable is that next first of the month and constantly knowing the clock is ticking. So do you work on the album or do you play that bar gig where no one will listen but you'll get your bucks and a bar tab? Do I photograph that cell phone ad or do I make art? Do I say what's on my heart or do I say what fills the seats and thus the offering bucket? Those kinds of thoughts are nearly inescapable when the rent is due.

I don't know that I'll be able to pay you when we work together. The taxi cab business has been less than kind of late as with most businesses. But I promise I'll treat you as well as I possibly can and be forever grateful for the opportunity to collaborate with you.

Oh my, I don't know what to say, only hope you know the feeling is mutual! You are such a talented artist and seriously, it is models like you that make me look good :) And just like you, I'm very much looking forward to our next adventure!

I'm a fan of both you & David, and I wish I wasn't on the other side of a 2500 mile trip.

Getting there is a job unto itself, but it's one of my life ambitions to shoot at The Wave. I think I mentioned it to you before. Too bad you can't just cruise in on a helicopter, eh? Of course the trek is part of the experience. I keep putting my name in for the advance tickets. If I ever get to go, you'll be on my list of invitees.

Karen & I almost went down here during our road trip, we passed through Page, AZ and later decided not to backtrack as it was a time of year we'd be unsure of the road. Seeing this link I'm sorry now that we did :(
